The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil and sleeps and rises,

night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows--how, he himself does not know. The soil produces by itself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.

Come and Grow With Us!

We are seeking to grow in numbers, in commitment and depth of faith, and, in vegetables and flowers! Our backyard gardens, designed as raised beds on the model of square foot gardening, have enriched our church life in several ways.  They brighten the view from our lobby, they engage our Sunday school and VBS kids in the tasks of watering, weeding, planting and watching God's creation at work, and occasionally, they feed whoever happens to be nearby.  This year we have plans to give our extra produce to Philabundance, so that folks who find it hard to buy groceries can have fresh veggies regularly.

We're built two new frames this year, and right now we harvested tomatoes, mini pumpkins, green and banana peppers, carrots, basil, parsely, oregano, and zucchini.  And lots of flowers.  We're giving some produce away and taking some home, and enjoying the process.

If you're a gardener or would like to be, come and join this activity that is mission, exercise, nutrition, and therapy, all rolled into one. If you're interested in having your own little plot in our garden, call us and we'll work out a deal!
